‘GLAMTAINERS’ AT OCEAN BEACH —Holiday accommodation that’s thinking ‘inside’ the box.
You’ve heard of ‘glamping’ but the latest innovation sweeping the world is the ‘glamtainer’, and it’s arrived at the Central Coast. It’s the blissful marriage between glamping and the tiny house trend, created from repurposed shipping containers.

Glamtainers are popping up as funky, multi-coloured holiday homes and even multi-storied hotels for the discerning traveller from Scandinavia to Argentina and Scotland — and now Ocean Beach.

Innovative architects and designers have created sleek, stylish and most certainly innovative accommodation and, in Australia, NRMA Parks and Resorts has taken the lead by bringing its first glamtainers to Ocean Beach for the summer and autumn months. In winter they’ll be loaded onto a flatbed truck to head to the snowfields at Jindabyne for the ski season.

The 7-metre glamtainers are kitted out with double-glazed windows, queen-sized beds, kitchen, living area, full-sized bathroom, luxury finishes and even an outdoor deck.

‘Ocean Beach really is the perfect setting for our glamtainers,’ says NRMA CEO, Paul Davies. ‘Waking up to the peaceful sounds of nature, meeting the local wallabies who hop along the garden, and falling asleep to the sound of water lapping at the shore is enough to win over the fussiest of travellers.’

The Central Coast is teeming with so many places to see and restaurants to try that the northern end of this beautiful region can tend to be a little overlooked unless you’re a local in-the-know. Luckily, areas like Wyong and Toukley are booming with new, entrepreneurial cafés, restaurants and bakeries just waiting for you to take a bite.
